TRENDS OF FASHION IN AFRICA

The program, Focus on Africa at BBC, commenced on time but with some technical on the satellite transmissions, however, the producer Clere, did her magic and we were able to go on air after some minutes. She's an inspiration.

Our Nigerian 'Broda' was up in arms to battle people like us who are not patriotic to the traditional wears. Furthermore, he fully supported the idea of a Nigerian minister of enforcing a law that would make all the civil servants in Nigeria to were traditional dressings on Fridays.

On my side sat a Kenyan designer , John, Who was involved in designing the Kenyan national dress some few years ago, that failed to hit the market. With much passion on his work, John was partially supporting my argument that, people should not be forced to wear traditionally and especially young men who have been brought up in an urban society.

Callers from Sierra Leone, Nigeria, S.Africa and London were sorry for me that I had become a symbol
of use by the Westerners. As the Presenter of the program described the way I was dressed and said that I could fit in any street in NY or L.A, others were even saying that I was suffering from Inferiority Complex..... awwhh it made me laugh.

The question is Who is it to blame between me and my parents who raised me up in an urban setup???
